     This post will be a review for a new supplement on the market called Velocity. Velocity is an energy and fat burning pill that helps supports weight loss. Velocity is a very potent product and delivers on the promises on the bottle and by the person who introduced me to it. I use to work a long graveyard shift on the Las Vegas strip. I would work the weekends at one of the busiest stores located on the Vegas strip. My hours would usually be from 9pm to about 8am in the morning, and it was usually a very long and tiring shift. I found myself drinking 1 – 2 energy drinks a night just to get through the shift. I would be dragging most of the night due to lack of sleep.      What is Beachbody? Beachbody is a multi million dollar health and fitness company based out of southern California. You are probably familiar with Beachbody and maybe don’t even know it. They are the ones who are advertising those infomercials you see all the time. Heard of P90X? What about Insanity? Yes, those fitness infomercials you see on T.V. all the time are all programs offered by Beachbody! Other programs of theirs advertised on T.V. are Brazil Butt Lift, 10 Minute Trainer, Turbo Fire and Insanity the Asylum. Now have you heard about Beachbody? But do you really know what the stand for and what they are really trying to accomplish?

     Beachbody is desperately trying to get people fit and healthy. With the current health crisis facing America, Beachbody is trying to pave the way for people to live a healthy, fitter and longer life. How is Beachbody accomplishing this? Quick heatlh and fitness tip of the day

So you have begun to exercise or already are and not seeing a whole lot of changes? Think about this for a moment, what are or have you been eating? If you feed your body crap all day then you won’t get anywhere! In addition, your body won’t perform the way it should and your workouts will suffer. This is a big reason why people quit or as I’d like to say yo yo cise.

     This workout in the P90X series is considered to be the mother of it all. It’s cardio conditioning, leg training and jump training and athletic training all in one 60 minute workout! This workout is definitely one of the most difficult or demanding workouts in the series, especially if you are new to P90X. Here are some tips I’ve put together and now share with you after doing a few rounds of P90X myself.

1. This workout is really tough the first few times out, especially if you’re just starting out. Drink water throughout the workout but only in small sips to avoid cramping. With all the jump training movements it’s very easy to suffer from cramping due to over hydration. Also, if you are prone to cramps then eat a banana 30-45 mins before hand.
2. It’s okay to modify if, you cannot properly perform the exercise, if you are fatigued, if you get fatigued during an exercise and do it to avoid risking any injuries. It’s okay to not keep up with the people in the video, you do what you can the best that you can.
3. Do not skip the warm ups and cool downs for this video. Also consider on doing a few more leg stretches after the video. Your legs will thank you for it. 4. Do not skip the Yoga two days later! No matter how bad your legs hurt you will need the stretches towards the end of Yoga X. Your legs will feel much better after Yoga X, I promise.
5. The movements in the video are not difficult to follow. Do not over think them or try to master them the first time out. Just make sure you are using good form and when that starts to go then you know you are done. Do not sacrifice good form on any exercise just because there are seconds left on the clock.
6. Make sure you’re taking some form of recovery drink after this and really every workout. Your body needs the nutrients, as they will help your body repair after the strenuous exercise.

Quick Chicken Adobo and Black-Bean Tacos

Here is a great meal tip idea from the pages of Men’s Health that I personally love and want to share. Serves 2

Ingredients needed –

  • 1 bunch of cilantro, stems and leaves separated
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, stem and seeds removed
  • Two chicken breast baked and shredded
  • Salt and pepper for taste
  • 1 can (15.5 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 4 corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Pre cook chicken ahead of time (about 30-40 minutes or until there is no pink)

To Prepare –

  1. Make the adobo sauce – In a blender or processor, puree the cilantro stems with the tomatoes and jalapeno. Transfer the mix to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium to high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and reduced by half, about 8 – 10 minutes.
  2. Remove sauce from the heat and stir in the chicken, season to taste with the salt and pepper. Heat the beans in a small skillet on medium heat, stirring and smashing the beans with the back of a large spoon, until they are slightly thickened (about 3-4 minutes). Season beans with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the tortillas until warm. Fill the tacos with the adobo chicken, beans, sour cream and cilantro leaves.

Foods You should be eating.

There are foods that we all know we should be eating. However, do we know why these foods are so good for us? Maybe there are alternatives to the foods we are eating now that are even better for us. Here are some foods that you may or may not be eating and the benefits that come with them.

First we have canned fish foods. The first is Canned Tuna, which we all know to be a great cheap food source. However, it’s high in protein and selenium(an antioxidant) make it a winner. Next is Canned Salmon, which is also high in protein but contains omega-3 fatty acids along with calcium and vitamin-D. But, the best are Canned Sardines. You wouldn’t think so but sardines have all the benefits of the other two but it’s the amount of good fatty acids that seperates it from the others plus the addition of B-12.

Next is a look at something that should be in all our diets is fruit. Fruit is essential when it comes to a healthy diet and lifestyle. First are Bananas, they are loaded with potassium which aids in proper brain, nerve and muscle function. However, they are higher on the glycemic index so if your looking to lose some weight you might want to cut down on your banana intake. An apple a day keeps the doctor away could be right. They have fewer calories and lower on the GI than bananas, and they help boost the immune system. Plus, apples have fiber which helps blood cholesterol and sugar levels. The best fruit are blueberries. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants protecting from free radicals that can lead to illness and help reduce muscle damage after an intense workout.

Last to cover is the meat department. Meats are essential in a healthy diet due to the enzymes and protein that are found in meats. First up are eye of round steaks I feel are great because they are the leanest steaks and some of the most affordable. Along with affordability, the protein that is in eye of round steaks is ridiculous. Next is Pork Tenderloin, which is versatile to cook with and definitely cheap to get. Better yet the fat content is similar to chicken so you can eat a little more and not feel guilty. But the superstar or superstars are Chicken and Fish. Chicken is lean and cheap and loaded with protein and can be cooked in indefinite ways. With Fish particularly Salmon, Shrimp and Yellowfin Tuna the benefits speak for themselves. High in protein, fatty acids and vitamins you can’t go wrong with either of these three types of fish.

These are only a few items that should be consider on your next visit to the grocery store. The point is that there are healthy alternatives to everyday eating and some can be easy on your wallet as well. Always remember to check the labels of your food and make smart decisions when grocery shopping.
